The Princess of Wales's Yearly Christmas Carol Concert Spotlights Charity Helpers

The Princess of Wales is hosting her yearly Yuletide celebration at the historic Abbey, with guests including members of the royal family, famous faces, and community champions who have helped their communities.

The sizable congregation will enjoy a selection of traditional hymns, orchestral pieces, and literary excerpts from performers including Chiwetel Ejiofor and Kate Winslet.

Focusing on Kindness and Compassion

The theme of the concert, held in the candle-lit Abbey on Friday afternoon, is kindness and showing love to others.

Among the guests will be Anna and Jonathan Cordiner, whose young girl was lost to a tumour, and who founded an organisation, a support fund, to support families who have a youngster facing a life-limiting condition.

"The time, care and compassion you give, often without fanfare or recognition, and without any hope for reward or acknowledgement, make an extraordinary difference to the circumstances of individuals," the Princess expressed in a note prior to the festive gathering.

A Gradual Return

The princess has been making her own steady comeback to official duties following her health challenges and treatment, last month delivering her first public speech for two years, in which she reflected on recognising the "discreet, frequently unseen labour of caregivers".

Performance and Potential

Guests arriving at the Abbey will enjoy performances from talented youth performers backed by the Future Talent charity, co-founded by the Duchess of Kent to increase availability of instrumental training.

An 18-year-old named Carys Wood, who is a trumpet player and is from Wales, has been helped by the charity, with awards contributing to musical instruments, lessons and travel costs - and she said it was "awesome" to be performing at the concert.

"Pursuing music is often costly," the musician remarked. She is now a student at the prestigious music academy, and added that "everyone should have the opportunity" to cultivate their performance abilities.

A Sisterly Duo

Eliza, Carys's sister who is 11, who performs on the brass instrument, will be present at the Abbey. "It's unbelievable that I get to perform here in front of so many notable figures," she said.

Attending the service will be individuals spanning multiple eras.

That will feature young Saphia Turner, nine, recipient of a youth community award, who sells artwork and carries out sponsored challenges to generate funds for food banks.

Seasonal Ambiance and Entertainment

The Abbey has been decorated with handcrafted festive wreaths, with well-known chef Mary Berry and flower expert Simon Lycett contributing to their design.

Among the musical performers will be Katie Melua, the Westminster Abbey choristers and a nautical singing ensemble, the Fisherman's Friends, who said the invitation to sing was "the icing on the cake for us."

The festive event titled 'Together at Christmas' will be broadcast on ITV1 on Christmas Eve.
