The Fifth Toy Story Film Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Digital Device
Exactly 30 anniversary after the original Toy Story film debuted, launching the animation giant as a leading animation studio and introducing viewers to beloved characters like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a glimpse into the plot but keeping viewers curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys
In the teaser reveals the young girl — who inherited Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a latest plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will animate just like the rest of her playthings. Still, the toys seem to view it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the teaser doesn't touch on is why Woody is back with his friends in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, Pixar will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is somewhat puzzling, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to the cowgirl (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of the toy domain. In the teaser shows the insignia pinned to her outfit.
It is hoped she is still the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 debuts on June 19, 2026.
