Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice Session
Lando Norris has beaten his teammate at all of the last five race weekends.
Lando Norris narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the quickest lap in the final moments of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the championship lead from Piastri by one point after taking the win in the Mexican Grand Prix a fortnight back, beat the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver throughout the hour before sprint qualifying set to begin at 18:30 GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the championship fight, lying 36 points behind Norris, finished in 17th position as his team opted for a different programme.
His teammate Yuki Tsunoda was the only driver to have an incident, if briefly, when he rotated at Turn Four early in the session.
The Japanese lost control over the track edges before rotating through the gravel trap, and was blessed to escape with just a minor contact of the wall.
The Ferrari of Lewis Hamilton also lost it, at the conclusion of the session, rotating twice through the quick descending corner approaching the last turn on to the start-finish straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th, just behind team-mate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the other competitors, with the German's Sauber in third, 0.619 seconds slower than the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was fourth fastest, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Pierre Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
